Taryn Bedesky, BSc, RMT

Taryn graduated from D’Arcy Lane Institute in London, Ontario in 2011 after receiving an Honours Specialization in Biology Degree from the University of Western Ontario in 2008.

Taryn has a passion for gymnastics and cheerleading and has been an athlete and/or coach in one or both of these sports for about 20 years. She loves to treat athletes with a combination of Thai massage, stretching and deep tissue massage. This has been especially valuable for cheerleaders by helping to create muscle balance from side to side which goes a long way in sport to promote injury prevention.

Taryn also practices Craniosacral Therapy and Cupping Masage. Craniosacral Therapy is an extremely gentle form for therapy which uses bones of the head and spine to manipulate and relieve restrictions in the outer layer of the meninges (dura mater) to promote healthy motion of cerebrospinal fluid. Meninges surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. Cupping Massage is the use of suction cups to help relieve fascial restrictions, adhesions and trigger points.

Taryn likes to “dabble” in different sports to keep things interesting. She has run a half marathon, played intramural soccer and competed in the 2016 Crossfit Open Competition. Taryn has a strong understanding of injuries and how massage therapy can complement many training programs and treatment plans.

Reid Cowper, BSc, R.Kin, RMT

Reid has had a lifelong passion for all sports, competing in hockey, skiing, volleyball, soccer, basketball and squash from a young age. He was lucky enough to continue in sport as he attended the University of Waterloo, where he completed his Bachelor of Science in Honours Kinesiology while playing on the Varsity Men’s Volleyball team (Go Warriors!).

Post graduation, he was summoned by the call of the mountains, and moved to Whistler, BC, spending the next 3 years as a ski instructor, and earning the title of Whistler Blackcomb Instructor of the year in 2011.

Upon returning to Ontario, Reid explored his flare for entrepreneurship while continuing his love for fitness and athletics. He, alongside his family, purchased the Racquet and Fitness Club in Elora, Ontario, and operated the business for the next 6 years. This was a unique learning experience that combined his passion for squash and tennis with his interest in business.

In 2015 Reid completed his examination to become a Registered Kinesiologist. He has 3 years of experience working as a Kinesiologist in clinic, and additionally has 4 years of experience working specifically with survivors of Motor Vehicle Collisions. After discovering both an interest and aptitude for massage therapy, Reid returned to school to earn his diploma. He graduated with distinction and became an RMT in 2023.

Ken Edmondson BA, RMT, SMT(cc)

Ken is approaching his twentieth year as a Registered Massage Therapist with little interest in slowing down. Before becoming an RMT, he studied at the University of Guelph completing a B.A. in Psychology, with a minor in Biological Science. Currently, Ken has been working towards a diploma with the C.S.M.T.A (Certified Sports Massage Therapy Association) with an emphasis upon treating athletic injuries.

Some of his most enjoyable athletic experiences were as a Provincial rugby player and as a Varsity swimmer while at the University of Guelph. Ken has been an avid runner for more than 30 years, and has had the opportunity to complete several half and full marathons as well as triathlons.

He considers himself very fortunate to have found a balance between a passion for sports and a professional interest in the growing field of sports rehabilitation. The emphasis of his practice over the past few years has evolved from treating the injuries of athletes to evaluating risk and preventing them from getting injured. This treatment philosophy represents a relatively new approach - sometimes referred to as ‘prehabilitation’ - that involves combining case history and assessment with a specific and focused treatment approach.

For several years Ken has been involved with coaching and training within the Waterloo Minor Hockey Association, and frequently serves as a consulting therapist with the Wilmot Aquatic Aces Swim Club.

Ken feels extremely privileged to be included in the health care team at Waterloo Sports Medicine and he is proud of the reputation WSM has, and will no doubt continue to have, in the K-W area.

**Victoria Tolton **

Victoria comes to the profession of Massage Therapy after three University degrees (BA MA MSc), 15 years as a certified yoga practitioner, 10 years as a Graduate Program Administrator with The University of Waterloo, and 6 years as a Labour and Delivery Doula. She is a 2007 Senior Ladies National Champion and a 2007 World Bronze Medalist in synchronized figure skating. She graduated with “Distinction” from triOS College’s Massage Therapy program in Kitchener, Ontario.

Victoria’s education is a unique combination of the humanities and human kinetics; her academic portfolio includes two Master’s degrees (The University of Waterloo and The University of Edinburgh, respectively) with a thesis that considered the reconstruction of broken Greco-Roman statuary based on ancient anatomical understanding of the human body.

Outside of academics, Victoria approaches her role as a certified yoga teacher with curiosity and joy. She first discovered this practice following her season with the National Team to recover from the rigors of training, and is endlessly intrigued by the sequencing of postures, and their ability to bring the body and mind into better alignment.

Labour and Delivery work is another passion of Victoria’s; empowering women to move through the birth experience confidently is one of her greatest honours both personally and professionally.

As an RMT, Victoria is excited to build on her body work skills, and leverage her understanding of yoga and remedial exercise to help all her clients enjoy the freedom of moving well in their bodies.
